Without a doubt the most popular vehicle on the lineup, though the Corvette gives it a run for its money, the Chevy Silverado 1500 has been around for decades and it doesn’t show signs of going anywhere any time soon. Although it won’t be going anywhere, that doesn’t mean it can’t evolve along the way, which it has already done many times through the years and will continue to do – as evidenced by the upcoming Silverado EV! This year, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has received several exciting updates and enhancements for the new model year, so we thought we’d dive into what’s new to give you the rundown on things here today.Empty Paragraph
Before we dive into everything that’s changed for the 2024 model year, we thought it’d be a good idea to highlight the different available trim levels and configurations that make up the whole suite of Silverado models. There are four different things that set the different variants apart: trim level, cab style, bed length and drivetrain. Naturally, there are just two drivetrain options available, either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. As for bed length and cab style, there are three each: regular, cab or crew cab and standard, long or short bed. Finally, there are nine available trim levels from which to choose, starting with WT and moving up to Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country and ZR2.
While those are the different options that separate the several Silverado variants, there is one more major thing that you’ll have to choose when purchasing your Silverado – which engine you’d like beneath the hood. There are four different powertrains available this year, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, check them out in the following list.
The standard engine is tethered to an eight-speed automatic transmission while the rest feature a 10-speed auto. Any truck equipped with the TurboMax engine and rear-wheel drive will have the highest maximum payload at 2,260 lbs., but the lowest max trailering capacity at 9,500 lbs. If you’d prefer having the most ability to tow things, then you can opt for either the Duramax engine or the 6.2L V8, both of which can haul up to 13,300 lbs.
We thought it’d be easiest just to give you a comprehensive list of everything that’s changed for the 2024 model year, so check it out now!
